UAE's gaming authority awarded the licence to operate the first authorised lottery to Abu Dhabi-based The Game LLC

The permission to run the nation's first officially sanctioned lottery was granted on Sunday by the gaming authority of the United Arab Emirates. 

The Game LLC, a commercial gaming operator with headquarters in Abu Dhabi that specialises in game creation, lottery operations, and gaming-related content, was granted the license. The company, which operates under the name "UAE Lottery," will provide a range of games to suit players' budgets and interests in addition to lottery games.

Momentum is an entertainment company that includes The Game LLC as a subsidiary. Momentum's portfolio includes virtual reality experiences, iGaming, esports, commercial gaming development, game publishing, and lottery operations.

In order to establish a regulatory framework for commercial gaming, the United Arab Emirates established the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) on September 3, 2023. Jim Murren, an industry veteran, was named chairman, and Kevin Mullally, a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience, was named chief executive officer. According to the regulator, it has created a structure designed to safeguard stakeholders' legitimate interests as well as those of consumers.

There were several gaming and lottery enterprises operating in the nation prior to the regulating body's formation. At the beginning of the year, a few of them ceased to operate.
