
Dubai’s RTA records substantial growth in the vehicle rental sector in 2024 compared to 2023
he Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai saw a significant increase in the vehicle rental industry when comparing 2024 to 2023. While the number of registered car rental companies climbed by around 33% during the same time period, the number of newly registered commercial cars increased by about 43%.
The RTA's Licensing Agency's Commercial Transport Activities Department reports that 867 new rental businesses were registered in 2024, increasing the overall number of operating businesses in the industry from 2,627 in 2023 to 3,494. By the end of 2024, there were 71,040 vehicles in the rental fleet overall, up from 49,725 the year before.
In addition, the industry saw a 73% increase in the rental of luxury cars and a 50% increase in the fleet of electric cars compared to 2023.
