UAE launched the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative to tackle the pressing global issue of water scarcity

NewsThe United Arab Emirates (UAE) introduced the "Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative" on Thursday in an effort to address the urgent worldwide problem of water shortage, accelerate technical developments meant to alleviate it, and promote more international cooperation.
Launched in compliance with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's orders, the programme seeks to increase public awareness of the urgency and seriousness of the world's water scarcity situation. Along with tackling this dilemma, the effort aims to expedite the development of novel technology solutions and assess their efficacy in mitigating the growing global water shortage.
In order to accelerate the development of technical innovation in managing water shortage, it seeks to strengthen engagement with international partners and stakeholders. In order to overcome this obstacle and eventually benefit present and future generations, the water initiative aims to expand international collaboration efforts and pursue larger investments.
The initiative's vice-chairman is Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, head of the Executive Affairs Authority, and its chair is Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the Minister of Investment Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, and the Minister of Climate Change and Environment Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi are among the board members.
