UAE Food Innovation Hub launched to deal with challenges arising from climate change to food safety and security

The UAE Food Innovation Hub was established by Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the Ministry of Climate and Environmental Change to address the threats that climate change poses to food security and safety.

The World Economic Forum has established six hubs worldwide to unite all parties involved in the farm-to-fork model as a component of a sustainable food supply chain.

The five primary pillars of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives are: innovation and entrepreneurship; healthcare and disease control; empowering communities; humanitarian help and relief; and sharing education and information.

Transforming from emergency food assistance to long-term support, MBRGI also introduced the 1 Billion Meals Endowment initiative in 2023. According to CEO of MBRGI, Dr. Abdulkareem Al Olama, the centre would have facilities for both research and development (R&D) and food storage.
