UAE added another world record — its Hollywood-style Liwa marker has become the world’s tallest landmark sign

The United Arab Emirates has broken yet another global record with its Hollywood-style Liwa marker, which is now the tallest landmark sign in the world. It's interesting to note that it took first place despite Dubai's Hatta Mountain landmark. On Wednesday, the Abu Dhabi Media Office made the announcement on the new Guinness World Record title.

The metal installation in the Al Dhafra region is 23.5 meters tall and weighs 49 tons. It was constructed 197 meters above sea level on a hill. Standing at a height of 19.28 meters atop the Hajar mountains is the Hatta sign. The US flag stands 13.7 meters tall.

The Liwa structure is a component of the Al Dhafra Region Municipality's ongoing efforts to raise the area's profile as one of Abu Dhabi's top tourist and cultural destinations.
