Two new Salik toll gates; to optimise traffic flow and reduce congestion on key routes within Dubai
19 Jan 2024
NewsDubai, Salik Company PJSC (Salik), the toll gate operator, announced on Friday that two new Salik toll gates will be installed. The two new gates will be situated between Al Meydan Street and Umm Al Sheif Street on Sheikh Zayed Road in Al Safa South and at Business Bay Crossing on Al Khail Road.
According to Salik, the business has been officially appointed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to "install two new toll gates to optimise traffic flow and reduce congestion on key routes within Dubai."
The RTA conducted in-depth studies on traffic circulation before choosing the two locations. By rerouting some traffic to other roads with higher capacity, they hope to optimise traffic distribution and alleviate congestion, making travel easier and more effective for all drivers in Dubai. The additional gates will bring Salik's total number of toll gates in Dubai to 10, with operations anticipated to begin in November 2024.
Al Safa South will be connected to the current Al Safa gate, much as Al Mamzar North and South. If commuters travel through both gates in the same direction within an hour, they will only be paid once.
