The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) stated that there will be an increase in taxi fees in and around areas of Dubai hosting fireworks. As per the announcement made on Friday, the new flag-down cost will be charged at Dh20. On New Year's Eve, dynamic fares—up to double the initial prices—will be in effect for Hala Taxi services. At the fireworks locations, these prices will be in effect from 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, until 6 a.m. on Monday.
The type of taxi, the destination, the length of the trip, and the distance covered all affect the cost of a taxi in Dubai. In Dubai, the standard flag-down charge (minimum taxi fee) is Dh12, plus an extra Dh1.97 for each km.
According to RTA, on days when there are significant events, exhibits, and international conferences at venues like World Trade Centre, Expo City, and Global Village, new flag down prices for both regular-metered taxis and Hala Taxi service will be in effect.
