Sustainable Harvest: Organic Agriculture and Nutrition Wellness, event at Sharjah; urges to develop mini-farms in homes

NewsHome mini-farms have a significant influence on family cohesion and psychological well-being, according to specialists in health and organic farming. Speaking during a debate held as part of the second Sharjah Talks, a joint project between the Sharjah Government Employees Club (SGEC) and the Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD). They emphasised the significance of attaining harmony and balance among all components of the human being.
The Shajar project in Al Jada, Sharjah hosted the event with the theme "Sustainable Harvest: Organic Agriculture and Nutrition Wellness." Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of DSCD, Ahmed Hamad Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the SGEC, department heads, and staff were in attendance.
The first-panel discussion, "Cultivating Sustainability: From Soil to Table," included organic home farming specialist Eman Al-Marri and UNICEF Climate Change Ambassador Saeed Al Rumaithi, co-founder of "The Organic Farm." Al Rumaithi stressed that the agriculture of our ancestors is organic farming. "My goal is to increase community awareness about converting vacant spaces in homes into small-scale farms." He emphasised that maintaining the soil is essential to making the switch to sustainable farming as it is the basis of the food and fungus cycles.
