Passengers are not to stick their heads out of the sunroof or sit on windows of moving vehicles

Drivers have been cautioned by police in Dubai and Abu Dhabi not to let passengers to perch on windows or poke their heads out of sunroofs while their car is moving. In the aftermath of many traffic incidents that resulted in injuries to people who fell from moving cars last year, the Dubai and Abu Dhabi Police issued the advisories on Friday.

The General Department of Traffic of Dubai Police, headed by Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, stated that these kinds of acts put other road users' lives at jeopardy in addition to the lives of the persons involved. He restated that violators of the Federal penalty Law would be subject to harsh punishments, including as a 60-day car impoundment, a Dh2,000 fine, and 23 penalty points. The cost of releasing an impounded car might reach Dh50,000.

In a statement, the Abu Dhabi Police's Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols urged drivers to follow traffic laws and police officials' directions.
