Noise levels in Abudhabi will be mapped in an initiative launched by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi

The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) is starting a project to monitor the noise levels in Abu Dhabi. This programme aims to locate the residential neighbourhoods most impacted by noise and identify a variety of noise sources. EAD is able to evaluate the effects on every district and provide a map that focuses on the most impacted regions with the use of this data.

In addition to this endeavour, a noise committee made up of over ten government agencies was established, according to EAD's Executive Director of the Environmental Quality Sector, Eng. Faisal Al Hammadi. He stated that the emirate has been monitoring ambient noise through the air quality monitoring network since 2007. Al Hammadi stated that the current project aims to maintain the commitment to the environment while creating a comprehensive and accurate picture of noise pollution throughout Abu Dhabi.

Developing mitigation strategies will be aided by the data acquired by the effort.

This effort has benefits for health authorities, engineers, and city planners. As soon as the greatest noise levels are identified, the appropriate steps may be followed to detect possible health problems.

Also, to shield schools or residential areas from loud sources, city planners might employ noise modelling. Engineers are able to install green areas, sound barriers, and infrastructural upgrades.
