New X-ray system driven by AI will automate the reporting of TB tests; enabling a greater number of applicants to be served each day

By automating the reporting of tuberculosis (TB) screens, reducing radiologists' workload by up to 80%, and improving operational efficiency during visa processes, a new AI-powered X-ray technology will enable a higher number of applicants to be served on a daily basis.

The AIRIS-TB chest X-ray for TB screening centers was created by M42, a multinational tech-enabled health organization with its headquarters located in Abu Dhabi. The premier visa screening facility for M42, Capital Health Screening Center (CHSC), has tested AIRIS-TB in more than a million scans over the course of two years according to M42's Abu Dhabi Health Data Services. According on the results of the pilot study, the technology can cut radiologist workload by up to 80% without missing any TB cases.

The technology employs cutting-edge AI to identify anomalies in X-rays and promptly highlights anomalous findings for a radiologist's additional examination. It increases the scope of visa screening beyond tuberculosis and simplifies operations. Radiologists can improve patient outcomes and the experience of obtaining a visa for residents by using the time saved to identify additional conditions and refer patients for follow-up care.

The technology will be made available on Malaffi, Abu Dhabi's Health Information Exchange run by M42's Abu Dhabi Health Data Services, where it may be used by more screening providers in the future for their own operations. With its shown efficacy, safety, and clinical impact, AIRIS-TB is poised to revolutionize TB screening procedures and standards worldwide.

Without altering the present TB screening methodology, M42 is trying to improve AIRIS-TB's capabilities and investigate its applications in other diagnostic domains, such as opportunistic screening of other diseases.
