As part of a new space initiative unveiled on Sunday, the United Arab Emirates will launch the first Arab and Emirati astronaut into lunar orbit. The United Arab Emirates has affirmed its involvement in NASA's Lunar Gateway Station, joining the United States, Japan, Canada, and the European Union. The first space station built by humans to orbit the Moon will be called Lunar Gateway.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE's Vice President, Prime Minister, and ruler of Dubai, were present during the opening of the country's contributions to the illustrious Lunar Gateway.

The UAE will provide a full unit weighing ten tonnes for the station, according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, as part of the country's contribution. It will also construct a worldwide hub for astronaut training in addition to a space operations centre within the nation.

He said that this initiative will get underway right now, in line with one of the biggest space goals of the next ten years. Its main purposes are to support scientific research, store rovers and robotic missions, house government agency astronauts on temporary missions, and operate as a solar-powered communication centre. The UAE will provide a full unit weighing ten tonnes for the station, according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, as part of the country's contribution.

The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also serves as the Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, congratulated the Arab world, the UAE's leadership, and the country on its decision to join the United States, Japan, Canada, and the European Union in the development of the Gateway Lunar Space Station.
