Installation of solar energy panels initiated at Dubai metro depots of Jebel Ali and Al Qusais, tram depot at Al Safouh

Solar energy panel installation has begun at the Dubai Metro Depots in Jebel Ali and Al Qusais, as well as the Tram Depot in Al Safouh, according to Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). With completion anticipated by the first quarter of 2024, the project is planned to provide 9.959 megawatts of solar electricity in total.

RTA is working to bring the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy and the "Shams Dubai" ambition of the Dubai government to life through this project. Additionally, it advances RTA's long-term plan, which focuses on three main areas: waste management, buildings and related facilities, and public transportation, with the ultimate goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

RTA anticipates that this action will result in an annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of 3.962 tonnes.

One important component of sustainable renewable energy sources is solar photovoltaic power systems, which helps RTA in its attempts to increase the infrastructure of its facilities' efficiency. Solar panels also improve environmental sustainability, lower carbon emissions, save money, and save resources.

There are two main stages to installing solar panels. The mechanical setup, which involves mounting the PV panels and erecting the supporting structures, is the first stage. The electrical setup, which includes connecting the solar energy system and putting out the wiring, is the second stage.
