Global legal firm Baker McKenzie announced that it has revised its maternity and paternity leave for its employees

The international law firm Baker McKenzie said on Thursday that it has updated its policies for maternity and paternity leave for staff members, providing both mothers and fathers with expanded leave.

The corporation promised to pay moms for up to 52 weeks (364 days) of leave, with 26 weeks (182 days) of paid time off. Fathers can also take advantage of an extended paternity leave that lasts up to six weeks (42 days) and is fully paid. Additional benefits are associated with parental leave.

Mothers who have worked with the legal firm consistently for at least a year are eligible for the new policy.

To draw and keep the best employees, UAE businesses are progressively being more accommodating when it comes to offering extended maternity and paternity leaves as well as flexible work schedules. Alpha Nero, a retail and design company, introduced a new paid maternity leave policy for its staff earlier this year, which covers 70 days.

Federal government employees are entitled to 60 days off from work in addition to the 45 calendar days of required maternity leave in the United Arab Emirates. Up until the age of two, new mothers are also granted two 30-minute breaks during which they can nurse their infant.
