NewsAt the front of a residential complex in Dubai, a towering 3D-printed structure has recently been installed. The Tilal Al Furjan residential complex by Nakheel is meant to be controlled by the fully operational gatehouse.
Developer Nakheel issued a statement with Khaleej Times stating that the gatehouse, which serves as the residential development's entry point, would act as a "landmark allowing the public to familiarise itself with 3D-printed buildings."
According to Printstone3D, a construction business located in Dubai, the gatehouse's canopy is over three times larger than the actual edifice. The building, a communications hub equipped with utility metres and CCTV cameras, can fit over 90 pipes and cables of various sizes and functions in a small area. By 2030, Dubai wants to use 3D printing technology to build 25% of its structures.
The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC)'s regulating authority, the Planning and Development Department Trakhees, has granted the first building permit in Dubai utilising 3D printing technology.
Labour expenses can be lowered by up to 80% using 3D printing technology. Additionally, it reduces building project durations by 60%.
