Five buildings in Sharjah have had their facades replaced with fire-resistant claddings as part of a massive replacement project

The facades of five buildings in Sharjah have been renovated with cladding that is resistant to fire. The Sharjah Municipality's director of Technical Services, Khalifa Al Suwaidi, stated that more structures are undergoing construction as part of the emirate's extensive replacement project.

The Dh100 million project, which was revealed by Sharjah's ruler last year, is the first of its type in which the government pays to retrofit existing structures with fire safety measures. It targets forty buildings with fire-prone façade in its initial phase.

The project aims to protect renters from the possibility of flames. The buildings' aluminium panels are being removed and replaced with fire-resistant materials.
