Dubai’s RTA introduced a series of humanitarian and community-driven initiatives under the theme 'Journey of Good'

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai unveiled a number of community-based and humanitarian projects with the slogan "Journey of Good." These programmes, which are being carried out in conjunction with RTA volunteers and Keolis, the operator of the Dubai Metro and Tram, are designed to improve community involvement and cooperation throughout Ramadan.

There will be a range of Ramadan-related events, activities, and projects that are aimed at an inclusive community that includes workers and Abra riders as well as RTA staff, bus drivers, delivery cyclists, and truck drivers.

Ramadan Tent Project: In collaboration with the Beit Al Khair Society, RTA is launching the Ramadan Tent Project in collaboration with philanthropic organisations. With the help of a specially erected tent, 2,000 Iftar meals will be served to those who are fasting.

Modes of Good: This is an enhanced version of RTA's annual “Meals On Wheels” programme. 8,000 meals are prepared and distributed throughout Ramadan by RTA staff members and volunteers from a variety of backgrounds as part of a charitable endeavour. Abras and a special bus built for this purpose are used for the delivery. This programme supports Abra riders, truck drivers, delivery bike riders, and bus drivers annually. To strengthen the sense of community, volunteers from the programme often pay special visits to worker lodgings to distribute meals.

We Bring You Closer: The We Bring You Closer Initiative, in partnership with Keolis, the operator of Dubai Metro and Tram, is intended for users of public transit in addition to Al Ghubaiba, Union, and Jebel Ali Metro stations. Through the installation of four phone booths at various metro stations, this humanitarian project encourages individuals to stay in touch with their loved ones.

Employees at RTA are working on a number of internal projects. 'How to Prepare for Ramadan' is one of them; it consists of three online sessions meant to emphasise the value of keeping a balanced diet and good fasting practices.
