The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has opened 7 km of new bike lanes in Al Khawaneej and Mushrif, connecting to the 32 km of existing bike paths in the two districts. According to RTA, this extension makes the 39 km of bike paths in these residential subdivisions. The RTA said that the new tracks' launch falls on the first day of Ramadan, which falls on Monday or Tuesday. During this time, locals and guests want to engage in physical activities, such as cycling.
The RTA has requested that everyone who uses a cycling track adhere to the 30 km/h speed restriction that has been established throughout the emirate for both tracks used by amateur sports cyclists and tracks shared with cars on safe roads. On dedicated or shared paths with pedestrians in metropolitan areas, a 20 km/h speed restriction is in place. In addition, cyclists are free to ride at any pace on the city's training tracks. These actions demonstrate RTA's dedication to protecting bikers' and pedestrians' safety.
The first bicycle track starts at Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street's Quranic Park and continues until it crosses Al Khawaneej Street. It then connects to the current bike track by crossing the road via the Al Khawaneej Street pedestrian and bicycle bridge.
Starting in Mushrif Park, which is close to Crocodile Park, the second track runs until it intersects with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. After that, it follows the road north until it crosses Al Khawaneej Street via the pedestrian and bicycle bridge on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, where it meets the Al Khawaneej cycling track.
