Deira Old Souq Marine Transport Station officially opens; a significant contribution to Dubais marine transport industry

The Deira Old Souq Marine Transport Station, which connects the Al Fahidi and Bur Dubai Stations and serves the Old Baladiya Road Area and Gold Souq, was officially opened by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The project is a component of RTA's master plan to modernise maritime transport services and infrastructure to accommodate Dubai's expansion in several areas, including tourism, to which RTA places a high priority since it helps to increase Dubai City's appeal to visitors.

As part of RTA's master plan for the development of maritime transport 2020–2023, the completion of this station represents a significant contribution to Dubai’s marine transport industry. In Dubai, marine transportation is a vital means of transportation for more than 17 million passengers annually.

RTA is working harder to complete the second stage of its plan to modernise two of the four historic abra stations located along Dubai Creek. The goal of this project is to improve abra passengers' experiences while enhancing the security and safety of marine transportation hubs. 

When it comes to the number of transport modes, stations, and passengers, maritime transport has steadily increased since the opening of the Dubai Water Canal, which connects Dubai Creek with the Arabian Gulf.

With the development of marine stations and the installation of urban and tourism amenities along the canal's borders, the sector is expected to witness even more progress.  The goal is to present maritime transportation as the best mode of transportation for locals, visitors, and people who enjoy beautiful urban and tourist buildings with views of Dubai Creek and the Water Canal.
