  5. Not presenting a NOL car when requested will cost a fine of AED 200.
  6. Utilising a third-party card will be charged a fine of AED 200.
  7. Using a NOL card that has expired can lead to a fine of AED 200.
  8. AED 200 fine can be imposed if found using a fake card.
  9. Any kind of destruction, tampering or sabotaging of tools, seats, and systems of public transport modes will be imposed a fine of AED 200.
  10. Smoking inside public transport modes, facilities and services can lead to a fine of AED 200
  11. Selling products and commodities inside of public transport vehicles, as well as promoting them through propaganda and advertisements of any kind will be imposed a fine of AED 200.
  12. Acting in a way that might divert the attention of a public transport driver or obscure his view while driving can be charged with a fine of AED 200.
  13. Carrying hazardous materials inside public transport modes, facilities and services including weapons, sharp materials or inflammable will be charged with a fine of AED 200.
  14. AED 200 for taking alcohol inside public transport modes, facilities, and services.
  15. AED 200 will be fined for causing any kind inconvenience to the services and facilities of public transport modes or any of the users or commuters.
  16. Acts like spitting, littering, or any other activity that may contaminate public transport modes, facilities and services will cost a fine of AED 100
  17. Eating and drinking in places that are prohibited will be charged with a fine of AED 100.
  18. Sitting in places allocated for specific people inside the bus like the seats allocated for females can cost a fine of AED 100.
  19. Opening public buses’ doors or leaving them open during the movement between stations or during parking will be charged a fine of AED 100.
  20. Standing or sitting on part of public transport modes, facilities, and services that are not allocated for passengers' use will lead to a fine of AED 100.
  21. If in possession of materials or equipment or usage of the same which may annoy other passengers or may endanger their safety will be charged a fine of AED 100

Methods for payment of fines:

  • The inspector who imposed the fine can be paid immediately by the passenger. The Road and 
  • Transport Authority (RTA) notifies the passenger of the fine and its amount at the time it is imposed. 
  • There is a specific gateway on the RTA website where you may pay penalties. 
  • Services for settling fines are also provided by RTA Customer Happiness Centres located across the city. The only thing you need is the fine number that you were given by RTA when it was issued. 
  • Self-service devices are available to bus passengers for the payment of penalties.

RTA has a clause that allows you to dispute your fine. The actions you should take are as follows:

1) Verify that you have all the necessary paperwork.

The fine number on the letter including the bank account number, Emirates ID, fine notice, and fine payment receipt

2) Within 30 days of the fine being imposed, you have the option to contest your fine on the RTA website for buses.

Visit the RTA website and upload the necessary files.

RTA will send you an SMS including your case number and the anticipated date of your answer. You will get news from RTA regarding the acceptance or rejection of your appeal when your case has been determined. The fine will be reimbursed to your account if it is approved.
