AI-enabled honey testing laboratory was launched to ensure stringent quality checks and authenticity of local and international honey products

The first AI-enabled honey testing lab recently opened its doors in Abu Dhabi. The lab is designed to provide rigorous quality inspections, assurance, purity, and authenticity of honey products – local and international.

Located in the Central Testing Laboratory (CTL) in Masdar City, the Honey Quality Laboratory was established by M42 in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC). Using cutting-edge machinery, the lab conducts extensive testing to determine the honey's quality, find any impurities, and ensure that it meets international standards. Large language models (LLMs), machine learning techniques, and AI-enhanced Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS) make this possible.

Rich data availability is a unique selling factor of the facility. The CTL has been gathering data for its examinations and investigations of various items since it was founded to satisfy the market's demands for high-quality infrastructure services.

The facility is available for commercial organisations to test honey, for producers to test samples from their bee farms, and for the public with assistance from M42's Environmental Sciences team. Aflatoxin lab, mass spectrometer lab, sample preparation rooms, analysis areas, washing rooms, and other sections with cutting-edge technology are all located on the expansive floor of the fully automated lab, which is staffed by a team of skilled scientists and specialists who gather samples and conduct a variety of tests.

The Abu Dhabi Food Safety Authority (ADFSA) is one of the government organisations that the M42-ADQCC cooperation helps by offering vital testing services to guarantee public health and safety.
