Ahead of the COP28 conference, the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) announced on Tuesday the creation of its first Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) benchmark index. The exchange stated in a statement that it worked with FTSE Russell to produce the FTSE ADX ESG Screened index.
According to the release, the index will initially consist of 24 FTSE ADX General Index components and firms listed on the ADX market. It is intended to evaluate the relative ESG performance of businesses based on yearly reports from the public about emissions, environmental product innovation, human rights, and shareholders, among other topics.
