NewsVisitors may now take a bus from Abu Dhabi City to the recently inaugurated BAPS Hindu mandir, a historic sandstone temple located off the Abu Dhabi-Dubai motorway near Abu Mureikha. Beginning at the Abu Dhabi Bus Terminal, the route will travel down Sultan bin Zayed the First Street, also known as Muroor Street, Hamdan bin Mohammed Street, Al Bahyah, Al Shahama, and, as a final destination, the BAPS Mandir.
The trip to the temple will take around ninety minutes from the city. The service will run to the temple in addition to the suburban regions' current 201 stops. The current bus number 201 (Al Bahyah Souq) will be replaced by bus number 203 (BAPS Temple) for the weekend service. People in the community have already begun to use the Saturday and Sunday service.
To ride the bus, community members must have a Hafilat card. The Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi's Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has combined the city and suburban transport services into a single, standard service with a Dh2 charge and an extra five fils for each km travelled. There is a Dh200 fine for using a bus card without one.
