A remote work scheme for government agencies that operate from abroad was approved by the UAE on Monday. It is intended to use outside talent and experience to carry out specific duties, finish projects, and carry out research related to government operations.
Although remote work has been used in federal agencies in the United Arab Emirates since 2017, this is the first time it has been extended to workers who are based abroad.
Jobs that can be done remotely from outside the United Arab Emirates will be identified by the relevant authorities. Additionally, the nation will specify the terms and duties of contracted workers.
The National Digital Economy Strategy, which seeks to raise the digital economy's share of GDP from 9.7% to 19.4%, was also examined by the UAE Cabinet.
