All staff members receive training in sensory awareness, effective communication, and anxiety-reduction techniques to better support and engage with sensory-sensitive travelers. This is an attempt to help autistic and sensory-sensitive travelers navigate both DXB and DWC airports.
The program has been implemented for more than 45,000 employees in line with Dubai's aim of becoming a Certified Autism Destination (CAD).
The DXB Travel Planner, an online visual guide that assists travelers and families in planning their trip ahead of time, and the Sunflower Lanyard, a covert identification for hidden disabilities that grants access to priority lanes and an autism-friendly path through check-in, passport control, security checkpoints, and boarding, are two new services created to assist people with autism.
