One of the largest nurseries in UAE – SHAJAR’s lush greenery invites visitors to enjoy a leisurely stroll

Shajar, which means "trees" in Arabic, is 1.6 million square feet of verdant beauty that welcomes guests to take a leisurely stroll amid 130,000 plants. The best aspect is that it's easily located in the centre of the United Arab Emirates and is free. Developer Arada's family-friendly and informative attraction gives guests the opportunity to discover more about the cultivation process of the trees. More than fifty different varieties of trees have been carefully chosen and raised to fit the environment in the area. To gain free entrance, interested parties need to register on the development's website.

Prior to embarking on the trip, guests are informed about the advantages of trees, the consequences of deforestation, and concerns related to biodiversity at the Welcome Centre. They are also urged to take action against climate change.

The trip begins with a visit to the climate-controlled greenhouse, the home of thousands of propagated trees. The process of growing new plants from seeds, cuttings, and other plant components is known as plant propagation. For six months, plants such as Indian cork trees, cottonwood hibiscus, and neem are cultivated here.

The plants are transferred to the shaded seedling area after they reach a sufficient size. This is to provide seedlings with adequate natural light and protection from the sun so they may grow and thrive. Every seedling has a sturdy bamboo stake to aid in its straight growth in its designated six-month growth area.

In this third stage, the trees are typically one to two years old. In order to allow the trees more room to flourish, they are placed in larger pots in the sapling area. In order to promote a strong canopy development, they are clipped.

After reaching a specific height, the trees are relocated to open areas where they flourish and spread out until they are sent to several Arada facilities located around the United Arab Emirates.

Workshop - The chance to plant their own Ghaf trees in pots is provided to tourists following the trip. These will first germinate in the tree house and then grow until they find a permanent home.
