NewsThe Dubai Creek serves as an artery at the heart of Dubai, facilitating the passage of over 13,000 ships annually. After more than 50 years of enduring different difficulties, the famous Dubai Creek walls are set to be restored and rebuilt through a new project. It will limit interruptions to commercial transportation and avert possible floods during severe weather.
The Dh112 million project by Dubai Municipality will be carried out in two stages. The first phase aims to repair 2.1 kilometres of the Dubai Creek's Deira shore. To guarantee continuous docking traffic, the site will be separated into many areas, each of which will be systematically patterned. On the Bur Dubai side, the second phase will span a distance of 2.3 km.
The 2.1 kilometre Deira pier will be restored throughout the course of the project's 14 months, requiring the replacement and repair of damaged concrete wall sections in order to lower the structure to a depth of 8 metres and raise it to a height of 3 metres.
These upgrades will guarantee that ships land safely in the region. Dubai Creek, which was the starting point of Dubai's commercial relations with the outside world more than a century ago, is one of the most significant historical marine conduits in the Emirate.
In addition to being a major tourist destination for locals and visitors alike, the Creek maintains its historical, commercial, and economic significance despite the emirate's enormous expansion. Modern developments are also commonly located along the Creek.
