Expatriate children born in the UAE must obtain a residence visa within 120 days. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) said that 120 days will be counted from the date of birth. If the visa is not received within the specified date, a fine will be charged. Emirates ID must be applied along with the newborn visa for those working in the private and free zone sectors. An Emirates ID card or receipt of payment of the visa fee is required to get a visa for children. A child's passport must be valid for at least 6 months. A copy of the sponsor's passport and salary certificate should be attached to the application.
In addition to the child's birth certificate, a color photograph and a copy of the parents' Emirates ID must be submitted. Also, copies of the building lease agreement, employment contract, medical insurance, and mother's passport need to be submitted. The fee for obtaining a residence visa for children is 350 dirhams. Of these, 100 dirhams are for application, 100 dirhams for visa issuance fee, 100 dirhams for smart services and 50 dirhams for e-services of the authority. The Authority's website www.icp.gov.ae and the UAElCP App can be used to complete the visa process. Applications can be made at the happiness centers of the authority and through authorized typing offices.
The main condition is that the sponsor's visa must be valid at the time of application. If there is a penalty for delaying the completion of the child's processes, it should be closed first. Then the new visa process will start. Any errors or lack of supporting documents in the submitted online applications should be rectified within 30 days. If no further action is taken after 30 days, the application will be cancelled.
