Dubai's RTA undertakes comprehensive maintenance tasks of the Water Canal Bridge’s Waterfall on Sheikh Zayed Road

The Water Canal Bridge's waterfall on Sheikh Zayed Road is undergoing extensive restoration thanks to work done by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This two-month initiative had a safety-focused agenda.

The principal maintenance duties took more than 600 man-hours to complete and involved removing and then reinstalling the outside aluminum cascade once it had been renovated. To improve sustainability, the works also involved replacing the old stainless-steel water pipes with polyethylene pipes and replacing the waterfall's antiquated stainless-steel framework with a new one. A floating platform was also constructed during the restoration period to enhance accessibility and mobility and guarantee everyone's safety while on the property.

The extensive renovation of the Dubai Water Canal's waterfall is a component of RTA's methodical strategy for preserving its resources and infrastructure, increasing sustainability, and lengthening its life. The five periodic phases of the waterfall maintenance process are daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and yearly maintenance. Along with other primary duties, the annual maintenance includes thermal imaging and ultrasonic testing of the lighting distribution panels, maintenance of the electrical distribution panels, and thermal imaging and ultrasonic testing of the control panels.

The Dubai Water Canal gains visual appeal from the LED waterfall, which is in line with RTA's creative and avant-garde touches in projects. This canal serves as both a hub for several community sectors and a popular tourist destination. The motion sensors in the waterfall cause it to automatically stop when boats pass beneath it, enhancing the landmark's natural beauty.

One of RTA's most notable projects is the Dubai Water Canal, which is renowned for its unique project and visual attractiveness. The water canal, which runs beside Al Safa Park, Jumeirah II, Jumeirah Road, and Jumeirah Beach, connects the Arabian Gulf to the Business Bay.
