Work and classes at all federal government offices and schools will be remote on October 27 following the heavy flooding

All federal government offices and schools will have remote work and classes on Friday, October 27, in response to Thursday's severe thunderstorm-related floods. The UAE Council of Ministers issued the decision allowing remote work, but they made it clear that federal workers who are compelled to be present at work will not be covered by it. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE), in the meantime, has asked all private sector businesses to "apply flexible work patterns" on Friday due to the present weather.

In a statement on Thursday, MoHRE stated that "necessary measures need to be taken by companies to ensure outdoor work, which is necessary to resume, complies with the occupational health and safety requirements." The government continued, "Companies also need to ensure the health and safety of workers commuting to and from outdoor work locations."

The police issued safety cautions across the nation on Thursday afternoon as a result of the heavy rain and thunderstorm that peaked late that day. Waterlogging caused bottlenecks on several routes, according to reports.

The Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also signed an order on Thursday night stating that all government offices in Dubai will employ remote workers.
