UNWTO has officially certified Fujairah as a sustainable tourist destination awarding the Fujairah Adventures Center a membership certification

The Fujairah Adventures Centre received a membership certification from the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) verifying its position as an Affiliate Member of the UNWTO, and the UNWTO has formally approved the Emirate of Fujairah as a sustainable tourism destination. At the 25th UNWTO meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on October 18, 2023, the Fujairah Adventures Centre received the certificate. The Park, representing the Emirate of Fujairah, submitted the accreditation portfolio, and presented adventure and sustainable tourism-related destinations and projects.

The accreditation acknowledges Fujairah Adventures Center's accomplishments in carrying out the specified duties and responsibilities of an Affiliate Member as well as its dedication to honouring, adhering to, and supporting the UNWTO's goals, values, and policies.

More than 500 businesses, academic and research institutions, travel destinations, and non-governmental organisations are UNWTO Affiliate Members. They offer a forum for members to converse, exchange information, and collaborate to advance key stakeholder knowledge exchange and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

HH Shaikh Muhammad bin Hamad Alsharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, is credited with creating the first official organisation, Fujairah Adventures Centre, which serves as the Emirate of Fujairah's regulator and catalyst for adventure tourism.
