RTA has opened a new junction at the intersection of Al Majasimi and Al Wasl Road

As the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) finishes an upgrading project, drivers in Dubai may anticipate some respite when navigating the congested sections of Al Wasl Road and Umm Suqeim Street.

It was revealed on Tuesday that the RTA has created a new junction at the intersection of Al Majasimi and Al Wasl Road, which is situated between Umm Suqeim Street and Al Thanya Street. In addition to adding traffic lights to facilitate vehicle mobility, the crossroads also has a new traffic stream installed.

Al Majasimi Street to Al Wasl Road left turns are now permitted, removing the requirement to turn right into Umm Suqeim Street and then make a U-turn on Al Wasl Road. It is anticipated that this solution would lessen traffic at the intersection of Umm Suqeim Street and Al Wasl Road, two locations that are home to a number of stores and educational institutions. The initiative has reduced the three-minute journey time from Umm Suqeim 3 northward to Al Wasl Road to only thirty seconds.

Additionally, Al Majasimi Street was extended, adding two lanes in each direction and increasing the capacity of each lane from 1,200 to 2,400 cars per hour. Completing these projects is a component of the RTA's 2024 Quick Traffic Improvement Plan.
