NewsThe Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has published the National School Health Screening Guideline, which will cover all students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
The policy, which applies to both public and private schools, aims to guarantee preventive care as well as prompt and comprehensive physical and mental health examinations, allowing for appropriate intervention and support.
The screenings will also be consistent across all institutions and must adhere to a set timeline.
The guideline describes the specific measures for early detection of health and developmental issues in kids.
This will be accomplished by conducting yearly school health exams, updating each student's medical history, and evaluating growth indicators such as height, weight, and BMI. It also involves vision screening and an assessment of immunization status, including updates based on the national immunisation plan.
The guideline also specifies specialized examinations, such as comprehensive physical assessments, scoliosis detection, hearing screening, dental health checks, psychological and behavioral health evaluations, and smoking habit monitoring among students over the age of ten, in order to provide appropriate medical advice.
