Dubai tops in the Global Power City Index 2023 list; makes it the first city in the Middle East

NewsDubai makes it to the top 10 cities in the Global Power City Index 2023. It is the first city in the Middle East to receive this international recognition, according to the rating by the Institute for Urban Strategies of the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan. The city has risen to the eighth position worldwide.
Major cities are ranked according to their "magnetism," or ability to draw in investors, businesses, and people.
The city, which is home to many different cultures, came in fourth place in the cultural interaction metric, surpassing Tokyo, Istanbul, Madrid, and Moscow. First place went to London, followed by New York and Paris in second and third place.
Since its publication each year in 2008, the Global Power City Index (GPCI) has served as a global standard for evaluating the competitiveness and performance of global cities. The economy, R&D, liveability, environment, accessibility, and cultural interaction are the six elements that make up the index.
