Al Dhaid Dates Festival shocases over 40 varieties of dates grown in UAE

The eighth season of Al Dhaid Dates Festival began on Thursday, July 27, and will run until July 30. Visitors can witness over 40 varieties of dates, including egg-sized ones, grown in the UAE. Local farmers are also displaying other produce during the event, such as four types of mangoes, lemons, papaya, bananas, and other fruits. It's a four-day festival honouring Emirati agriculture, complete with heritage events, economic and commercial activities, and thrilling competitions.

Al Ratab beauty, largest dates branch, finest lemons, fig contest, Al Heseel date contest, and most beautiful date basket (reserved solely for ladies) are among the important contests. Participants in the tournament have the opportunity to earn prizes ranging from Dh1,000 to Dh25,000 in each category.

The 'Al Dhaid Fort for Palm Owners' competition, which is entirely dedicated to Sharjah farmers, is a major addition to this year's event. This effort aims to commemorate the historical significance of Al Dhaid Fort, which was established in 1750 and is now one of the oldest structures in the central area.
