NewsIn order to improve traffic conditions and communication around the city, Dubai is getting ready for a ground-breaking Dhs16 billion road expansion project.
On Sunday, November 3, Dubai's Crown Prince and Executive Council Chairman, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, paid a visit to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to study their plans for growing the Dubai Tram system.
The possible installation of trackless tram systems at eight important places throughout the city is a major selling point of this extension.
This cutting-edge self-driving tram system provides a progressive answer to urban transportation problems by operating on virtual tracks that are marked with painted lines and video technology on designated lanes.
The trackless tram system, which runs solely on electricity, is not only more economical and quicker to build than conventional tram systems, but it is also more environmentally friendly.
With three carriages and a maximum capacity of 300 passengers, trams are a practical choice for city commuting.
The tram is built for both performance and safety, with a top speed of 70 km/h and an operating speed between 25 and 60 km/h. The tram's feasibility as a sustainable public transportation option is increased by the fact that it can go up to 100 kilometers on a single charge.
