Taqdeer Award: Dh1 million international award to company with the best policies for promoting workers' rights

Dubai announced a Dh1 million international prize on Thursday for the business with the highest ranking in the list of organisations with the best policies for promoting workers' rights. The goal of the award is to advance employees' rights and boost productivity. The announcement was made, on Thursday, at the beginning of the sixth cycle of the Taqdeer Award.

The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said in a statement that the new international Taqdeer Award is a true reflection of Dubai's vision to advance workers' rights and spur productivity on a global scale. He is also Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai and Patron of the Taqdeer Award for Workers and Distinguished Companies.

In its sixth cycle, Taqdeer Award has added a seven-star category to recognise excellence in labour relations and further cement Dubai's status as one of the region's most forward-thinking business hubs. Best hiring practises, facilities and infrastructure, health and safety, labour security, recruiting and pay, fairness and transparency, communication and feedback, and creativity and innovation are among the criteria.

Registering company for the Taqdeer Award:

  • Go to taqdeeraward.ae and select "Register now." Your browser will then be sent to the registration page at https://portal.taqdeeraward.ae/Registrations/Awards.
  • Begin by providing the fundamental information about your business, such as its name, industry, address, and number of employees. The Taqdeer application manager for the firm will then have to enter their complete name, phone number, and password.
  • Select Submit.

You will receive an email to activate the account as soon as the first registration is accepted.

Step 2: Sign in and begin submitting your first application:

  • Access the system by entering your username and password on the website https://portal.taqdeeraward.ae/Registrations/Awards.
  • The 'Award applicant dashboard' will display information about the status of your submission. This dashboard will provide you with an overview of where you are in the application as you go forward as an organisation.
  • Select'registrations' from the left-hand menu, followed by 'Awards application'.

After that, a form with further information has to be filled out regarding the work the organisation and its employees do, like the following:

  • The size of the business and the number of blue-collar workers it directly employs or sponsors.
  • The amount of the labour force at each of the five workforce levels: entry-level jobs, skilled jobs, technicians and associate professionals, experts, supervisory and management positions, and leadership.
  • Diversity of nationalities employed
  • The official tongue for business communication
  • Housing options for employees
  • Notable honours the business has received

Then tick the box indicating your agreement after reading the terms and conditions. Select Submit.

Next, Taqdeer Award evaluates the submission. It can take up to four days to get clearance. You will receive a message on your dashboard as well as an email after the initial application is accepted. At that point, you can continue the application process.

Companies will be required to create and submit documentation that will first be evaluated for each of the Award criteria. You will receive an update on your dashboard with a progress update after completing each step of the application, claims Taqdeer. The evaluation procedure will start after all the required paperwork has been received and the registration profile status indicates that it is 100% complete.

Companies participating in the most recent award cycle will find it simple to set up their profiles and get comments because the system is AI-powered. Companies will have more time to apply thanks to the smart assessment system, and there won't be any human involvement during the first assessment or preliminary approval.

Companies can register for the Award starting today through the registration portal, which will be accessible until April 2024.
