Following a thorough inspection effort known as the RASID campaign to enforce mass transit laws and regulations on Dubai Bus and intercity lines, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has identified 1,193 violators.
The RTA documented 1,193 alleged breaches after doing 40,000 inspections over the course of six days.
The inspection operations focused on a number of parking lots in the emirate, including those at the Burj Al Arab Hotel, Al Wasl Street, Majlis Al Gharifa, Al Quoz, and Dubai American Academy.
The majority of them involved using public transportation systems, facilities, and services; entering and exiting paid parking lots without paying the required fee; failing to produce a valid identification card when requested; and using the services and facilities in a manner that was against RTA's instructions as indicated on directional signs, among other applicable violations.
The initiatives were coordinated with a number of relevant organisations, including the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai and the Dubai Police. To decrease fee evasion by users of public transportation and to regulate unauthorised activity in this area, parking lots around the emirate were covered.
