National Elections Committee approved the final list of candidates for the UAE's FNC elections this year

The final list of candidates for this year's Federal National Council (FNC) elections in the UAE was approved by the National Elections Committee (NEC) on Saturday. 309 applicants, including 118 in Abu Dhabi, 57 in Dubai, 50 in Sharjah, 21 in Ajman, 34 in Ras Al Khaimah, 14 in Umm Al Quwain, and 15 in Fujairah, will compete for the position of FNC member.

Following the appeals process, which was from August 26 to August 28, the final list was made public. Not one of the candidates was the subject of an appeal. The 20 members of the FNC are up for election this year, with four seats each for Abu Dhabi and Dubai, three for Sharjah, and three for Ras Al Khaimah. Each of Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah will have two seats available.

The National Election Committee (NEC) is resolved to make every effort to ensure the success of this year's elections, according to Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of State for FNC Affairs and Chairman of the NEC. Al Owais issued a call to action to all candidates, urging them to abide by the guidelines for electoral campaigns that are set forth in the executive instructions for the 2023 FNC elections.

The FNC is one of the five federal institutions included in the UAE Constitution, along with the Federal Judiciary, the President of the Union and Vice President, the President of the Union, and the Council of Ministers of the Union. The 23-day election campaign is scheduled to begin on September 11. The deadline for withdrawing candidates is September 26.
