NewsThe first completely electric heavy truck to be introduced in the Middle East was unveiled in Abu Dhabi by Abu Dhabi Waste Management PJSC (Tadweer) in association with Renault Trucks Middle East and Al Masaood. Tadweer, the official waste management provider for Abu Dhabi, will employ the first Renault 100% electric vehicle, which was unveiled in support of the UAE's net-zero goals and environmental objectives, to collect residential garbage in the emirate. Following the signing of a contract between Tadweer and Al Masaood during the recent EcoWaste Exhibition and Conference, the vehicle was produced by Renault Trucks, under the dealership of Al Masaood.
In addition to addressing logistical issues like the lack of charging stations along important routes, the Renault Trucks E-tech truck, the first heavy truck operating in the area, will run a pilot programme to evaluate the vehicle's performance in the high temperatures of the capital's summer heat. By adopting approximately 100 of the trucks each to achieve their obligations to sustainability and their communities, urban centres like Paris and Barcelona have already shown the efficacy and performance of the Renault Trucks D-Wide E-tech in Europe. These two cities will save the environment more than 4,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide yearly by adopting these electric trucks, which is the equivalent of taking 1,000 automobiles off the road. The vehicles have already shown their value from a zero-emissions and performance standpoint with a range of up to 200 km between charges.
Tadweer is eager to begin driving the electric truck on Abu Dhabi's roads in order to evaluate and track the vehicle's performance over the summer. As Tadweer works to create an integrated waste management system and a circular economy, the first all-electric garbage truck in the UAE aids in goal accomplishment. The Renault Trucks D Wide 26t E-Tech Electric is the best vehicle for collecting urban rubbish since it has low running costs and has a high payload and range. The Renault Trucks E-Tech D Wide P6x2 will be working in Abu Dhabi to collect domestic rubbish, nearly silently and with no tailpipe emissions thanks to its 23 cubic metre Gorica-Farid electric garbage compactor.
The introduction of the Renault E-Tech waste management truck is also a commitment to the electrified mobility objectives of the UAE and Abu Dhabi, which put the nation and its capital at the forefront of the world. The federal government just recently committed to building more than 800 EV charging stations around the nation.
