UAE has announced the registration dates for those intending to perform Islamic pilgrimage Haj in 2024

The dates for registering to perform the Islamic pilgrimage Haj in 2024 have been released by the UAE. From December 5 to 21, pilgrims can register using the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments' app. In June of next year, Saudi Arabia will welcome visitors to Islam's holiest shrines. According to a Saudi ministry, the first group of pilgrims will arrive in May.

"The quota of pilgrims that can go to Haj is limited; therefore, it is wise to book in advance," the UAE government states on its website.

Saudi Arabia establishes pilgrim quotas to guarantee that pilgrims from all over the globe can make the pilgrimage. Typically, the UAE exclusively gives Haj visas to Emiratis. Expatriates must follow their home country's quotas and procedures. Pilgrims often travel to Mecca via licenced tour operators, a list of which is provided on the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments' website. Operators provide all-inclusive Haj packages that cover visa charges, accommodation, transportation, and meals. For the first time since Covid, the yearly pilgrimage returned at full capacity last year. Saudi Arabia welcomed more than 2 million pilgrims in 2023, up from 900,000 the previous year, as all Covid-related restrictions were eliminated.

Haj is one of Islam's five pillars. Muslims who are physically and financially fit are obligated to make the trip once in their lifetimes.
