UAE authorities issue reminders about traffic rules, and the fines and black points that could apply to residents

Traffic laws must be obeyed by pedestrians and drivers alike to keep everyone safe and avoid collisions. An awareness campaign has been started by the Umm Al Quwain police as part of their operating strategy for 2023. According to Colonel Mohamed Obaid Youssef Mohamed bin Hadiba, the campaign is a component of the UAE Ministry of Interior's plan to raise awareness of traffic laws and regulations in conjunction with the department.

The programme attempts to raise awareness among pedestrians and drivers alike about the significance of crossing the road only in specified locations. It also intends to teach drivers to yield to pedestrians. Serious injury or even death may ensue from breaking these regulations.

In addition to six black points on their licences, drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians in the specified locations will be fined Dh 500. Pedestrians who attempt to cross the road without permission will be fined Dh400.

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates often remind citizens of traffic laws, including the possible consequences of breaking them, as well as the penalties and black points that may be incurred.
