The UAE has won the bid to host the World Conservation Congress of the IUCN in 2025

NewsThe World Conservation Congress (WCC) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2025. WCC, the biggest and most significant meeting of environmentalists, is anticipated to bring more than 10,000 delegates from more than 160 nations.
The UAE has a long history of defending the environment, and it is the location of several significant conservation projects, such as the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre and the Al Ain Oasis.
From October 10 to 21, 2025, Abu Dhabi will host the WCC. Conservationists from all over the world will have the chance to meet at the event and talk about the most important environmental issues our planet is now experiencing. A number of significant decisions and proposals that will aid in directing future conservation efforts are also anticipated from the WCC.An estimated 10,000–15,000 attendees from more than 160 nations are anticipated at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi in 2025. This event has the potential to inspire conservation efforts to save our planet in the face of regional and international challenges.
IUCN, which was founded in 1948, has grown to become the largest and most varied environmental network in the world. The organisation is now well known for its knowledge products, such as the Red List of Species, Red List of Ecosystems, Key Biodiversity Areas, and Green Lists, which are frequently used to identify significant areas that should be protected and to set priorities for conservation of threatened species and ecosystems.that will aid in directing future conservation efforts.
Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, the agency's managing director, is the current president of the IUCN, and Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, the EAD's secretary-general, is a Global Councillor.
"Winning the bid to host the IUCN Congress in 2025 is significant and a reflection of the vision of our President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan," said Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of EAD. It will be a chance to highlight how the UAE is a conservation leader in both the domestically and internationally safeguarding and reintroducing endangered species.
