Second phase of the 'Closer to You' initiative has been launched; aims to integrate the biometrics of school students aged 15 and above

The second phase of the 'Closer to You' initiative has been launched, aiming to integrate the biometrics of school students aged 15 and above into the FAIC's population registry system. This launch has been brought about in a joint effort between the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC), and the UAE Ministry of Education.

Students don't need to attend customer happiness centers since the process is carried out through field trips thanks to a partnership between the General Directorate of Identity and Passport Affairs and the Emirates Foundation for School Education. These expert teams are committed to carrying out biometric procedures and guaranteeing access to student data within a predetermined time frame. In order to register for the program via the mobile platforms made available during these field trips, parents are asked to encourage their kids.

The FAIC's Director-General, Major General Saeed Saif Al Khaili, stressed the organization's commitment to creating integrated and comprehensive services. He said that the initiative's second phase, "Closer to You," continues the FAIC and the UAE Ministry of Education's initiatives.

The first phase, which involved schools all throughout the nation, started in February and March of the 2022–2023 academic year. The objective was to make it easier for citizens to communicate with government agencies and other members of the community while also streamlining the procedure for parents to provide their kids' biometrics when they attend school. In order to promote the UAE Government's 2021–2025 vision for government services, he emphasized the need for growing government service portfolios and their active involvement in raising service quality in an integrated way.

Al Khaili said that the project saw an actual 192 percent inclusion rate of kids' biometrics within the first month, with 1,923 pupils from 91 different schools around the country. This achievement during the first phase of field visits exceeded the aim.
