DEWA has extended the deadline for submitting research papers for the first MENA Solar Conference 2023

The deadline for submitting research papers for the inaugural Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Solar Conference 2023 has been extended by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). It is the region's first scientific and technical conference specialised in solar energy. The event contains the region's largest exposition in the energy, water, green development, sustainability, and allied sectors, as well as one of the world's largest specialty exhibits. The event, being organised by DEWA, will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from November 15 to 18.

The academics and scientists can still submit research papers during the late submission period, which ends August 1, as informed by DEWA on Sunday. This may be done by visiting the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park Innovation Centre's website. Those who want to attend the conference can take advantage of the early bird registration till July 31. DEWA offers extra savings to students and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) members. DEWA stated that it has received applications from 95 worldwide universities and research institutes from 36 countries to participate in the MENA Solar Conference 2023.

The unlimited support of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, according to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, has made DEWA one of the most important contributors to the development of the clean and renewable energy sector around the world. He noted that the MENA Solar Conference 2023 is an excellent venue for displaying the most recent technologies, research papers, and scientific breakthroughs in solar energy.

Scientists, researchers, investors, and worldwide keynote speakers will share their knowledge and views, as well as debate new ideas and research. It is expected to draw a huge crowd because it takes place before the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), the world's largest climate event. In November, the UAE will host COP28 at Expo City Dubai. The MENA Solar Conference will also coincide with the 25th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Show (DSS) 2023, which will be held from November 15-17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre by DEWA.

According to Al Tayer, DEWA places a high value on research and development in sustainability and renewable energy, which includes PV solar power and CSP, hydroelectric power, green hydrogen, and other technologies. This contributes to the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, both of which aim to generate 100% of Dubai's total power capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.

The research papers at the conference, according to Waleed Bin Salman, executive vice president of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, cover a wide range of topics, including unconventional and new concepts for future technologies; silicon photovoltaic materials and devices; Perovskite and organic materials and solar cells; PV module and system reliability in the MENA region; solar resources for PV and forecasting; and power electronics and grid integration.
