A comprehensive suite of services catering to the construction industry - Building in Dubai platform was launched by Dubai Municipality

The construction sector has been provided with a full suite of services by the Dubai Municipality, with the announcement of "Building in Dubai" platform. The programme exemplifies the Municipality's unwavering pursuit of cutting-edge innovation driven by smart technology as well as Dubai's intensified drive towards digital transformation across industries.

On the fringes of GITEX GLOBAL, Dubai Municipality's Director General, Dawoud Al Hajri, unveiled the platform and described the wide range of services, information, and procedures offered to the construction sector by the emirate's related entities as well as by Dubai Municipality. The platform is intended for all parties involved in the industry, such as contractors, developers, consultants, and property owners. It will contribute to the sustainability of projects and enhance Dubai's standing as one of the world's most modern building hubs by increasing its global competitiveness.

According to Al Hajri, the 'Building in Dubai' platform reaffirms Dubai's standing as a global leader in leveraging digital transformation and technology to improve the building and construction industry. This strategic plan also reflects the emirate's amazing progress and reinforces its standing as a leading global centre for building and transformational architecture.

He went on to say that the municipality is leading the way in the construction industry's digital transformation by creating a roadmap for the implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the emirate. Through partnerships and the provision of necessary building information, the municipality can offer a variety of smart services and develop a "digital twin" of Dubai.

The Dubai Municipality's acting CEO of the Buildings Regulation and Permits Agency, Mariam Al Muhairi, emphasised the organization's ongoing efforts to raise the bar for building design standards. She also emphasised the need of using Building Information Modelling (BIM) throughout a building's lifetime to eliminate the need for unskilled workers and to generate cost savings, shorter project schedules, expedited permit issuing, and enhanced construction and operating process efficiency.

The new platform satisfies the standards of the "Digital City Experiences" programme of the Dubai Digital Authority, which provides property owners with an inclusive digital experience during the development process. Information on their projects, such as building and site specifics, construction stages, a directory of construction consultants, educational contract templates, and a list and evaluations of registered consultants and contractors, are all accessible through it.

The platform also includes the newest technology advancements, such Building Information Modelling (BIM) audits that are automated. Dubai is a global leader in BIM implementation, intelligent inspection, and artificial intelligence deployment. The platform, which is undergoing phased development, will provide a number of crucial services to consultants, contractors, developers, and property owners during the whole building construction process. From site acquisition, building design, obtaining building permits, and carrying out the construction work to completion and service connection, occupancy, renting or selling the building, as well as additions, changes, maintenance, or destruction, these services will cover every step of the process.

The new platform will serve as the hub for all construction-related services provided by Dubai Municipality. Additionally, it will have services provided by both public and commercial sector partners, including the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai.
