At a ceremony held at UNESCO's Headquarters in Paris, the announcement was made in conjunction with the 53rd Eid Al Etihad celebrations and the airport's first anniversary.
Zayed International Airport established a new benchmark, in a year of operation, for airport performance globally by taking the top rank in this fiercely competitive category. This award honors the innovative architecture of Zayed International Airport, which skillfully combines state-of-the-art technology with the rich cultural legacy of the United Arab Emirates. With its unique X-shaped layout and capacity to handle up to 11,000 passengers per hour and 79 aircraft at once, Zayed International Airport is a 742,000 square meter masterpiece of design and excellence.
Zayed International Airport has received international recognition over the last 12 months, most notably for being the Middle East's fastest-growing airport in terms of international seat capacity. This accolade adds to that reputation.
The Airport has also received an outstanding ACI ASQ satisfaction rating, placing it among the top airports globally. This comes amid a robust passenger volume that has steadily increased from quarter to quarter to reach over 21 million passengers as of September 30.
