The Big Bad Wolf considered the largest book sale in history, began on Friday in Dubai with massive discounts on the more than one million books on exhibit.
The fourth edition of the "Big Bad Wolf Books" exhibition was opened by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), and Member of the Dubai Council. Over a million books are on display at the 10-day festival, which is taking place in Dubai Studio City from April 7–16.
Sheikha Latifa was given a briefing on the wide variety of books and publications on show, which reflect the rich cultural diversity of Dubai and the UAE and the region's development as a centre for the publishing sector. She also spoke with the organisers and thanked them for their efforts in establishing a stimulating environment for reading and lifelong learning. She understood the importance of the exhibition in stimulating intellectual growth and motivating visitors to explore new ideas because she is an advocate for education, culture, and innovation.
Sheikha Latifa praised the exhibition's dedication to fostering intellectual exchange and cultural diversity, emphasising that this cultural event strengthens Dubai's position as an intellectual hub for a diverse culture, in line with the leadership's vision that reading and culture are essential to fostering the all-around development of societies.
The exhibition's objectives and their alignment with Dubai's cultural strategy, which aims to establish the emirate as a major hub for art and culture, an incubator for innovation, and a thriving hub for talent, were also supported by Sheikha Latifa.
The show symbolises His Highness's visionary spirit, which plays a crucial role in society. Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has long recognised the critical role that culture and knowledge play in promoting sustainable development and enabling people and communities to realise their full potential. The exhibition assists in realising His Highness's aim of creating an open, vibrant society by encouraging a culture of reading and intellectual discussion.
