World Governments Summit in Dubai; GovTech Prize 2024 was awarded to innovative tech-based government services on Tuesday

At the World Governments Summit in Dubai on Tuesday, The GovTech Prize 2024 was awarded for innovative technology-based government services that satisfy the demands of community members.

The Executive Council of Dubai's Chairman, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, acknowledged the winning organisations from Ghana, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, India, and Kazakhstan.

  • Ghana's Education Outcomes Project seeks to promote an equitable and accountable culture within the education system while improving the quality of instruction in elementary schools that are not performing up to par. The project is aimed at about 70,000 out-of-school youth in the Greater Accra and Kumasi Metropolitan districts, in regions with the highest absence and dropout rates, and in places that have historically had a robust educational infrastructure. Furthermore, kids who are currently enrolled in 600 schools that are beneficiaries of GALOP will gain from enhanced interventions that are backed by service providers.
  • The Digital Family Card, a creative idea from Kazakhstan, won the coveted 2024 GovTech Prize after being recognised as the best in the "Inclusive Digital Transformation" category. This flagship govtech solution, created in Kazakhstan with UNDP help, intends to give prompt government assistance to the most disadvantaged populations.
  • The GovTech Prize went to the Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' iRASTE project, which was recognised in the AI-Powered Government Services category. With the use of artificial intelligence (AI), Project iRASTE seeks to rethink traffic safety in order to stop collisions before they happen. The initiative is anticipated to reduce black spots on Nagpur's road network and cause a 50% drop in traffic accidents.
  • SATUSEHAT, Ministry of Health, Indonesia was awarded as the platform that helps to solve the problems of inconsistent metadata in healthcare facilities' information systems, and fragmented health data across several (health) applications. These can be creatively addressed by the SatuSehat health services platform. Through a mobile app that has over 110 million registered users, the initiative easily accesses personal health data from over 60,000 healthcare facilities.

In the areas of educational services, healthcare services, AI-powered government services, and inclusive digital transformation, the prize honours advances in the development of human-centric government service experiences. The entries were assessed by an impartial jury panel in order to identify the winners.

The GovTech Prize is being given to government agencies globally, whether central or local, in its ninth edition as part of the World Governments Summit 2024. The award recognises inventive and creative solutions that solve urgent problems and produce outstanding government service experiences.

The award seeks to highlight innovative methods and strategies that effectively use technology to address issues impacting a sizable portion of the populace, yield real benefits, and have the potential to spread internationally.
