World Governments Summit 2024 kicks off in Dubai on Monday; will discuss the future of mobility, AI

World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024 begins in Dubai on Monday. Over 25 state and government heads, 140 countries, over 85 international organisations, and notable involvement from thought leaders and experts, will be present at the three-day event. Over 4,000 guests are expected to participate. The summit, which has as its theme "Shaping Future Governments," will cover a number of subjects, including investing in uncertain times, artificial intelligence (AI), and the future of mobility.

Leading nations, corporate executives, and celebrities will be the main attractions at the highly anticipated summit. Among the dignitaries who will take the stage at the summit to debate and examine a range of topics are Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, CEO of Open AI Sam Altman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Power-packed workshops will take place on the first day, with introductory comments from WGC Chairman and UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi. The other sessions of the day will address future economies, government inventiveness and successful policies. On the first day, Qatar is the honoured guest.

The events on Tuesday will begin with a discussion between Sam Altman and Omar Sultan Al Olama, the UAE's Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. Discussions on leadership, geopolitical changes, and the Arab Public Administration Forum will come next. The guest of honour of the day will be Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will take to stage in the afternoon for a plenary session.

Head of Dubai Municipality Dawoud Al Hajiri will start the sessions on the last day, when India is the honoured visitor. Shah Rukh Khan of Bollywood will then speak with Khan. Prior to Lt.-Gen. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the topics of global health, the future of space exploration, education, and talent development will be discussed.

During the summit, some 25 strategic papers addressing global trends across important industries will be released in partnership with international think tanks, academic institutions, and research agencies. In order to address issues worldwide, 15 international conferences centred on future planning and strategy in important industries will be held in collaboration with global IT businesses and international NGOs.

The Vice-President, Prime Minister, and ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, stated that the UAE believes that legitimate governments can turn citizens' aspirations into a sustainable reality.
